Guido Brignone | Italy | 1925 | 97 mins
Silent film presented with live improvised music accompaniment provided by Mini Worlds

Long before Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Hamilton, or the Rock, Bartolomeo Pagano was the incredible strongman behind the heroic character of Maciste, superstar of the Italian silent film era. Maciste used his muscles and moral compass to navigate a variety of capers across 26 different films. Over the course of the Maciste franchise, Maciste found himself as a sailor, a gladiator, a police man, an emperor, and the scourge of the underworld.

After he hits a couple of demons so hard that they are sent back to hell, King Pluto, the emperor of hell, decides that Maciste is hell’s number one enemy because he is so righteous. The demon Barbariccia is sent to earth with the mission of tricking Maciste into coming to hell.

Maciste in Hell blends over the top action sequences with incredible practical effects. Not as scary as our past entrees, Maciste in Hell has enough camp to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
