We're celebrating Sustainable Fashion Week in style! Come hang with Lindura (from Sullivan’s Crossing) and Dr. Toni of Plasticfree Toronto for a cozy community screening of The True Cost — a groundbreaking film about the human and environmental impact of fast fashion.
Come early (and stay late!) to shop and connect with local sustainable designers and vintage curators, including Stokeduds, Jenim Artwear, Magpie Vintage, Shelly'z Upcycle and more! Fast fashion is out, good vibes and good fits are in.
All net proceeds from ticket sales will support the incredible movers and shakers at The OR Foundation, and there is the option to include an $8 donation direct to this organisation. The OR Foundation works most visibly in Ghana to address the devastating impacts of fast fashion’s waste crisis. Through education, advocacy, and community-driven solutions, they’re building a justice-led circular economy that puts people and planet first.
About the film:
This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them and the impact it’s having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on an unseen part of our world and asks us each to consider, who pays the price for our clothing?
Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth, Vandana Shiva and many more, The True Cost invites us on an eye-opening journey into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.
Tickets $12.65 ($12 cash at the door); or
$20.90 ($20 cash at the door) with $8 donation to The OR Foundation. Learn more: theor.org/
