A father (Sergi López) and his son (Bruno Núñez Arjona) arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco. They’re searching for Mar — daughter and sister — who vanished months ago at one of these endless, sleepless parties driven by EDM. Surrounded by electronic music and a raw, unfamiliar sense of freedom, they hand out her photo again and again. Hope is fading but they push through and follow a group of ravers heading to one last party in the desert thinking Mar might be there. As they venture deeper into the burning wilderness, reports of a crisis in the world beyond the desert provide a sense of apocalypse, while the relentless journey forces them to confront their own limits.

Sirāt is a road movie channeling antecedents as varied as The Wages Of Fear, Walkabout, and Mad Max: Fury Road in its story of human determination to survive through the desert of the spirit, and into the abyss.

“This is a piece of extraordinarily visceral film-making by Laxe.” - Wendy Ide, The Observer (UK)

“So intense you’ll want to scarper but so riveting you can’t leave, Sirāt is an assault on the senses, mind and emotions. If only all movies took swings this bold.” - Ian Freer, Empire Magazine

“Laxe’s villain is the arbitrary universe, inflicting unearned horrors on the wicked and the innocent equally. His version of As-Sirāt is not a bridge but a seesaw, primed to fling any that cross to their doom.” - Richard Whittaker, Austin Chronicle
